Left Holding the Blanket

A couple of weeks  ago I spent some time reflecting on a classic Peanuts strip series involved Charlie Brown and a kid named Thibault who used Chuck’s glove at Peppermint Patty’s request.  The strip was fun, with lots of good, existentially angsty moments from Charlie Brown.  Here’s how the series, which ran for a couple of weeks, ended.

chuck's glove finalYou get some resolution: Chuck gives up his glove for good.  Charlie gets some almost-praise from his best friend, Linus.  And then you get the twist at the end: pride and the reality of blanket-holding.
