There is something interesting going on with today’s classic Peanuts strip by Charles Schulz.
It’s something about Linus’s ability to “tell it like it is.” On one level, it looks like an instance where Linus is “working the system” and getting out of writing a full-fledged paper. On the other hand, you almost think Linus is utterly sincere. For the literature major, though, this way of “telling it like it is” flies in the face of the idea (or hope) that literature can transcend things like marital status.

Also, why is a seven-year-old reading Ethan Frome? That should have been his book report right there: This book isn’t developmentally appropriate!
