I realized during what could be my last trip to Barnes and Noble that all of my Calvin and Hobbes collections are in my classroom, which I might not see for a while. Even with digital access, this is unfortunate.
Today’s classic Calvin and Hobbes is a wonderfully seamless strip. The two-panel throw-away is a nice distraction from what’s about to happen in the main strip . . . when Calvin’s parents are revealed. It’s always good seeing those opening panels used well. In some ways, this one strip encompasses some of the best tropes of the strip . . . all while leaving Hobbes out of the picture.
