Over the last couple of weeks, the folks at gocomics.com have been sharing one of the funniest-yet-poignant Calvin and Hobbes stories this side of a lost animal or dying squirrel: the time Calvin tried to play baseball. Here’s the last strip in the series. Calvin gets philosophical in the tree with Hobbes. It gets at something real about the peer experience and the childhood experience in general. Another example of what Calvin will elsewhere call “precluded possibilities.”
The whole run is worth a few minutes of your time. It’ll make you laugh (a good bit) while also reminding you of how difficult childhood can be . . . even with other children.
