Believe it or not, I never really set out to have a week full of random video clips. Sometimes, like this week, it just happens. Thankfully, The Algorithm was helpful with that this week, which isn’t always the case. It’s funny: I spend a lot of time communicating- in classes, in meetings, on the phone, via email. And yet when it comes to a place like this, where I really want to say something, the words just aren’t always there. A few reasons for that exist. Part of it is a kind of self-editing. And part of it is that the things I would say just don’t land all that well. The context just isn’t there for the content, if that makes any sense. The beauty of a new week is that you can try, try again.

A handful of snazzy comics could have been found this week in the funny pages. Here’s an early-in-the-week WuMo that captures an unfortunate reality (or perpetuates an unfortunate myth?):
And then there’s this great little Frazz strip about candy and aging that seems very true. Granted, I’ve never understood Skittles in the first place, so I’m looking forward to a day when others catch up with that opinion:
And finally, a classic Calvin and Hobbes about class presentations and parent-teacher conferences. Reminds me a bit of yesterday’s North Yorkshiremen sketch.
Watterson just nailed the language and timing perfectly.
