Saturday Smorgasbord

Believe it or not, I never really set out to have a week full of random video clips.  Sometimes, like this week, it just happens.  Thankfully, The Algorithm was helpful with that this week, which isn’t always the case.  It’s funny: I spend a lot of time communicating- in classes, in meetings, on the phone, via email.  And yet when it comes to a place like this, where I really want to say something, the words just aren’t always there.  A few reasons for that exist.  Part of it is a kind of self-editing.  And part of it is that the things I would say just don’t land all that well.  The context just isn’t there for the content, if that makes any sense.  The beauty of a new week is that you can try, try again.

+ + + + + + +

A handful of snazzy comics could have been found this week in the funny pages.  Here’s an early-in-the-week WuMo that captures an unfortunate reality (or perpetuates an unfortunate myth?):

WuMo HumanitiesAnd then there’s this great little Frazz strip about candy and aging that seems very true.  Granted,  I’ve never understood Skittles in the first place, so I’m looking forward to a day when others catch up with that opinion:

Frazz BittersweetAnd finally, a classic Calvin and Hobbes about class presentations and parent-teacher conferences.  Reminds me a bit of yesterday’s North Yorkshiremen sketch.

Calvin after SchoolWatterson just nailed the language and timing perfectly.
