Today marks three months since I moved to Elizabethtown, KY.
Leaving Honolulu after 23 years was no small thing. I’d been thinking about it, mulling it over, for at least two years prior to the big decision. Moving to Elizabethtown, KY, was a separate decision, though obviously colored by the move away from the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
If you scroll down the page, you’ll notice that I haven’t said much in the intervening time. That wasn’t quite the plan, but it has allowed me some space and time to experience and think through things. Certain kinds of distance can be good.
After a hot summer, the weather is about to change (at least for a week). I’m really excited about that. I’m grateful for an apartment with AC, but I have missed taking nice, cool evening walks. I’m hoping to get at least a week of that, maybe more, weather permitting.
So seasons change on multiple levels. I’m hoping to start unpacking the geographical move of this past summer over the coming days, if only as a record for myself. I’ve got thoughts, of course. And I have ideas. Now is a good time to try and make sense of them.
